Analysis of modern control technology of machine tools

2025-01-07

Machine tools combine the speed of modern control technology with the precision of machine movements, resulting in a true constant-speed machining system, and the control system of the machine tool can be an obstacle to shortening the machining cycle and improving the finish of complex 3D models, aerospace parts or medical device components.

When the processor can't keep up with the program, the drive slows down the tool's feed rate due to the urgent need for information, resulting in longer cycle times and uncoordinated tool operation. In order to replace worn and overloaded tools, in addition to increasing the number of runs from the tool to the tool magazine, it also affects the effective utilization of the spindle and increases the workload and finishing time of the fitter.

What are the problems that arise when the speed (feed rate) is unstable?

When the tool runs through the machining of the part, its uneven motion will cause different loads on the cutting groove on the tool, which will affect the machining accuracy and surface finish. If the tool is not running fast enough to maintain the minimum cutting load of the tool, friction will occur between the tool and the workpiece instead of cutting, and the erratic movement of the tool will shorten the life of the tool. However, with constant speed machining, the average machining speed of the tool through the workpiece will be more uniform and the machining accuracy will be higher, which will not only shorten the machining time, but also extend the service life of the tool.
